ESPN star Stephen A. Smith revealed a piece of advice he received from the late great Kobe Bryant.
The First Take personality, 56, appeared on Bloomberg's The Deal Podcast, starring MLB legend Alex Rodriguez, and shared the story of Bryant's past advice which included Oprah Winfrey in the process.

Smith has been a First Take star since 2012 and is among the top sports media personalities in the business, racking up around $12 million per year.
The 56-year-old spoke about his humble beginnings during the podcast with Rodriguez.
The New York Yankees icon asked Smith who gave him the best piece of advice during his sports media career.
Smith recalled an interview with Kobe during his past ESPN 2 show, which ran from 2005 to 2007.
Stephen A. recollected telling the Los Angeles Lakers superstar that people told him he had the potential to be like Oprah.
And Smith recollected that Bryant gave him a brutal response.
"And his [Kobe's] exacts words was, 'F*** Oprah. Harpo [Productions].
The future five-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer Bryant was referencing Winfrey's production company called Harpo which is "Oprah" spelled backwards.
Smith continued recollecting his discussion with Kobe, saying, "'I don't wanna hear Oprah again. You insult her when you say Oprah.
"'Harpo. She owns the Oprah Winfrey Show. She owns her own brand. That's what I want for you one day.'"

Stephen A. took Kobe's advice as the ESPN star has his own self-titled YouTube podcast show.
The hit Internet show, which can also be viewed on ESPN+, has 640,000 subscribers and counting.
Similarly to the billionaire Winfrey, Smith also has his own production company.
The First Take star's company is named Mr. SAS, Inc – named after Smith's three initials.
