Jimmy Buffett built an empire — but he didn't do it alone. The "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" singer trusted his wife of over four decades, Jane Slagsvol, with "so many important decisions in his life and career," a close family friend told PEOPLE amid her battle for his $275 million estate. The couple wed in 1977 and were together until his death on Sept. 1, 2023, at age 76. A statement on his social media and website confirmed Buffett died with his family and friends around him.
