
Red midwestern state launches bid to snatch counties from blue neighbor at locals' request
Indiana Republican lawmakers have launched a bid to redraw state lines and welcome in counties from Democrat-led Illinois. State House Speaker Todd Huston introduced HB 1008, which would establish the Indiana-Illinois boundary adjustment commission to research the possibility of redrawing the state lines. The bill would 'embrace neighboring counties that want to join low-tax, low-cost Indiana.' Hutson said the bill was inspired by the Illinois separatist movement, which has gained traction in recent years.
