Jimmy Carters Casket Arrives at U.S. Capitol in Horse-Drawn Funeral Procession
Jimmy Carter has arrived at the United States Capitol one last time. On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the former president's remains were transported from Georgia to Washington, D.C., where he was welcomed with a horse-drawn procession to the Capitol steps. Carter's casket will be on display under the Capitol dome until his state funeral on Thursday, Jan. 9, after which he'll return to his final resting place — his longtime home in Plains, Ga.
